Ahhh, this is the one I wanted in the auction. I just loved the last panel. At least I know where in CAF to come to visit it when I want. My favorite of the recent auctions.

In the late 30's, King took it upon himself to do many of the daily strips on scratch board. This is one of them. He would put the black ink on the paper, then scratch out the white areas. It looks like he may have tweaked them with black ink at the end. Gorgeous strip!

A great example from 1832 can be seen in my watercolor entitled Too Hot! by William Henry Hunt, which is posted in my file of Hunt's work.
