DescriptionThis was one of the first publicity drawings for a Silly Symphony that I bought. It came from a Boston area dealer, who consigned it and other Disney drawings in December, 1978 for Collectors Book Store to sell. I had called Howard Lowery at Collectors for some reason on the day the drawings arrived, and, when he told me what he had received, I dropped everything and drove over to see the drawings. Even at this very early date in my collecting of publicity drawings, I was incredibly anxious to see and buy any new examples. I bought the drawing from Broken Toys which was done on two pieces of paper the same day. Even though I had never seen Broken Toys or Cookie Carnival, I became a big fan of the cartoons on the basis of the publicity drawings alone, so apparently they still performed their function in promoting the cartoons over 40 years after the art was created.Social/Sharing |
