DescriptionI chose from literally dozen of Stevens examples, covers, splashes, panels before this one crossed my view. This one jumped out at me and screamed "take me home" there's no way I could resist. One of the best examples of how your "gut" can guide you well in this hobby once you learn to listen to it.Social/Sharing |

It's not a Bulldozer you'll need but a Backhoe or Excavator, that way you'll be fast enough to be done before the cops arrive ! Who says you can't take it with you ! Just to annoy someone else who wanted what you got. BTW Fantastic aquisition Way to Go !

I really don't think an artist has ever drawn women so life like the way Dave Stevens can,not even Adam Hughes.

I remember when I first saw this page in print....I made an audible gasp when I turned the page! When I clicked on the link and saw the page in your gallery I made the same exact sound....after more than 20 some odd years that image still gets the same reaction out of me!! This is probably the best Betty page ever! You are a lucky man!!!

Tremendously beautiful page, that works well as a whole, but obviously is pretty much only looked at for one part...amazing linework, one can only imagine how long Stevens labored over this. Idly thumbing thru your gallery, probably seen this here many times before, but nice to ogle again!

This was twenty years ago, Wow I'm getting along in my years. I do remember this issue coming out and waiting for the next one. Took awhile. Cliff Secord's one lucky fella, even if he is fiction.

I was so proud of myself... I had resisted for so long to post a comment... and even longer to come back and simply stare at that fantastic piece.... But that's it, the weakness is all over me, cannot think, cannot move, have to look at Betty... Forever and ever.

The artwork is described as "colored pencils" and "animation", but I guess that most people ignored the fine print and who can blame them?

LOL! Thanks for pointing that out. This piece has been posted for so long that it was up before the "media type" and "art type" were options as part of the description. "colored pencils" and "animation" are the first options in each of those drop down menus so when the site updated to add those fields it must have defaulted to the first choice in each. Now I have to go check all my other stuff posted in 2004-2005-2006 etc to see what else has the wrong designations.

I just logged into CAF for the evening as the wife and I have elected to dodge trick-or-treaters this year, and this popped up in the featured piece window. I haven't come across it before in my CAF scrollings, but what a feature it is. And clearly with the chain of comments reaching back through the years others agree. Fantastic page!

Absolutely beautiful Dave Stevens page- the highlight is the well-rendered Betty figure that takes up much of the page, but the storytelling in the panels is great as well, especially with the last two panels. Huge congrats!

Wow I can see how Dave Stevens was inspired by the Beautiful Bettie Page. She was before my time, but a timeless dark haired beauty. So sad her later years were not the greatest and suffered with her mental health. She reminds me of Marilyn Monroe. Congratulations on adding to your collection!

Gorgeous! What a stunning full-figure Betty on this beautiful Rocketeer page. DAve Stevens had an uncanny knack for taking an ordinary panel page and making it extraordinary! He certainlly put this one out of the park! Congrats!

That's a good idea, I should post a nicer scan. This one was originally posted back in the days of CAF before they had the zoom-in feature for larger scans.

Dave's Brushwork is so beautiful. It'd ne nice tp see it up-close. His women are Goddesses.
We sat across from each other for 20 or more years at Comiccon. We even had a Special, Invitation Only, "Don Heck is one of Jack Kirby's Best Inkers Club." We were the only members. Dave made a cool little ID Card for me to approve, and then he passed before he could Ink and Letter it. I miss him a lot.

The whole right side of the page is where the action is, and yet it is superfluous. She is simply stunning.
