This most excellent action page is from the first issue of the "new" series that I bought off the stands. I think I missed the next issue but after that, with stories and art that seemed quite different back then, I was hooked (well, at least until about issue 200) and looking in back issue boxes at the occasional comics show or the still odd, far-away comic shop for a year or two till I finally got them all.

That first battle of the new X-Men with Magneto was visually fantastic. I love love love all the black Cockrum and his inkers used in his first run on the title. Great example!
