DescriptionI wish I knew the entire story behind this piece and hopefully someday I can sit down and chat with Brian Pulido about the changes in direction that occurred around the time this piece was drawn. This piece was intended to be the cover for a new Evil Ernie series titled "The Quest for Nukes" and would have followed "Evil Ernie: Straight to Hell." Whatever the reason, the series was delayed and retitled "Evil Ernie: Destroyer" and launched with new cover art by Steven. This cover was not used for any of the subsequent Evil Ernie issues.As with nearly every piece of art Steven did for Chaos! it did not go to waste and was eventually used elsewhere. Although the piece was never published in comic book form it was printed as an oversized "Necro" chromium chase card in the Evil Ernie Series III: Master of Annihilation trading card set, and again as a "Necrochrome" parallel sticker #67 in the same trading card series. As always I am honored to own another of Steven's cover pieces in any form and as it stands it's the only Evil Ernie cover in my collection. Social/Sharing |
