DescriptionI thought I was done with Kirby. But then I had the opportunity to get this piece and I felt I could not pass it over. This splash is I think very representative of some key elements of Kirby's vision as an artist. On the one hand Kirby has always been keen to represent man's disorientation in the middle of senseless violence, be it in WWII scenes or in messy brawls with silly super villains. But another big part, showcased here, was the depiction of our sense of wonder and dizzyness in front of the sublime, the divine, the alien. Complicated and incomprehensible machinery often contributed to add to this feeling. The Eternals was very much a concept book as opposed to a character-driven book. The Celestials were the main representation of the concept. The splashes portraying these extraordinary and aloof beings remain a pinnacle of Kirby's art IMHO. I am also very happy to have one fine example of Royer's inks, one of the very best inkers on the King's powerful pencils. Social/Sharing |

Damn.. this is amazing. This piece illustrates how Jack's imagination was just on a whole other level. Like channeling this directly from God's mind. Congratulations!

Such a great example from the King and one of his most common collaborators in Royer! A perfect representation of the Celestials and so uniquely Kirby! This truly makes an impact when you see it - that's the definition of a "splash", right?! And the placement of and actual dialogue at the bottom really take it home. Congrats!

Incredible piece! If I'm ever able to add a Kirby piece to my collection, this would be exactly the kind of piece I'd look for. Every inch of that page screams Kirby. It is both emblematic of the man's art and his indelible impact on Marvel mythology.

Powerful, majestic example of the late Kirby visionary art. Pure sense of wonder, pure Kirby .

100% Kirby style and here is well explained why he was 30 years ahead of the rest of the artists of that time.
Congrats Carlo!

this was probably my favorite issue of the book as i loved the twilight zone sort of ending. this splash perfectly sums up both the grandeur and the menace of the celestials- congratulations!

EPIC Kirby piece! I loved his Eternals at least the first 12 issues. Congrads! If I won it big $ I'd make you offer on this gem.

The Eternals and the New Gods are my two favorite Kirby creations because I love what he accomplished when he chose to go as big and mythical as possible. A comic page could barely contain his ideas, and this is a perfect example of that. Thanks for sharing!
