Description

Tom Scioli is best known for two things:

Working in Jack Kirby's style
Working on GI Joe and Transformers.

However, he lately made a mistake that may haunt him the rest of his career. He created a crossover cover for My Little Ponies in Jack's style:

Yep, he's gone Brony. :)

Anyway, I couldn't resist asking him for a Kirbyesque Pony when he appeared at Amazing Houston Comic Con. After a little discussion of how his entire career may be remembered only by the Kirby MLP cover, he agreed to do one for me. BTW, Tom wrote on his twitter page that it's the most popular thing that he has drawn. https://twitter.com/tomscioli/status/992913870221176832

So, I may have the only other Kirby pony ever done and maybe the last he will do! :)

Note: At this point, I expect to be accused of being a Brony - a guy that likes MLP.

There is a lot of circumstantial evidence to support that accusation I must admit:

I am a fan of all ages books, e.g., Bone by Jeff Smith, Zita the Spacegirl by Ben Hatke, Cleopatra in Space by Mike Maihack, and The Nameless City books by Faith Erin Hicks.

I will confess to knowing about MLP (and having stepped on many) since I have 3 daughters.

I'll even admit that I own a few OA pieces by MLP creators (wait until I post about the one from Tony Fleecs).

As a comic art collector, I've met and become friends with a number of MPL creators like Thom Zahler, Katie Cook, Andy Price, Tony Fleecs, Agnes Garbowska, but that's just coincidence!

I even went to a hotel housing a Pony Con (yes, those are a thing) that was literally walking distance from my home to pick up Thom Zahler who was a guest of the show for dinner.

However, I've only read 1 MLP comic and never seen a movie or TV episode.

You can decide! :)

I do love the Kirby vibe..the horse has a neat "chessboard piece" feel to it.
