Description

Anyone who has come across my gallery over the years will know that one of my Favorite Artists is Michael Golden. As a young comic book reader of the 70's-80's I always felt that his art stood out from the rest. Maybe it was the amount of detail in each panel, or the shading he put on each character that made each panel pop off the page. I first came across his art in the pages of the Micronauts and latched onto any book, pin up, cover or poster he produced over the years.

When I first began collecting original art his was the among the first originals I sought out. Among the many pieces I have parted with over the years his were always the most difficult to part with and ones I missed the most. I have been fortunate to find some key pieces of his beautiful art over the past 16 years of collecting and have paid a premium for each of the best ones that crossed my path.

This year has been a fruitful one for acquiring vintage pieces of his as a few became available. What better way to close out the year than to find this gem, an unpublished sketch from one of my favorite works of his: Bucky O'Hare!
I love the detail in the piece and always thought Deadeye Duck was a visually interesting character! Sketches of Michael's from this time period are desirable pieces in my eyes. I have never come across a published page from Bucky O'Hare but until I do this piece has filled that void!

I was tempted by this one but it was too similar to mine. I agree with you about Golden and that particular period even though I continue to love his art to this very day ;)

After I bought this one I compared it to yours to see how similar the poses are. There are slight differences but they seem to be drawn around the same time period. I drooled over yours for years so I'm glad I landed this one.

I love the detail on the guns as well. Michael's weapon drawings always seemed so 3 dimensional to me the way he shaded them.
