Description

When I proposed a Taarna commission to Michael McDaniel, his response was enthusiastic -- "I loved Heavy Metal!" That enthusiastic is reflected in the eye-catching concept Michael designed for this commission, as well as his typically brilliant linework. When I opened the package in which this arrived, I let out a howl worthy of a Taarakian. Really.

Love the Taarna gallery!! This is a great piece. Ever hear the song "Vengence - The Pact" by Blue oyster Cult? Either the song quotes the movie or the movie quotes the song. Either way, it's still pretty neat.

There's a story behind that Blue Oyster Cult song, Steve. BOC wrote and recorded "Vengeance: The Pact" for the film Heavy Metal, but the producers decided not to use it because it was too story-specific. (It basically divulges the entire plotline of the Taarna sequence.) They ended up using another BOC song, "Veteran of the Psychic Wars," instead -- it comes at the beginning of the Harry Canyon sequence.
