DescriptionThis one comes with a tale.Aaron Lopresti had an opening in his schedule to take on a few commissions, and I managed to grab the last spot on his list. When my turn came, Aaron asked me what I wanted him to draw, and I already knew it would be Isis (mainly, because Aaron had already drawn most of my other favorite heroines in prior commissions). I promptly sent Aaron his fee via PayPal, noting in the message field what I was paying for: "11x17 Isis commission as discussed." The next thing I know, PayPal has flagged and locked down my account. The first ominous email indicated that the transaction had been placed in pending status due to "government regulations." The followup email demanded that I answer a series of pointed questions regarding the nature of the transaction, including "an explanation of the reference to 'Isis'" and "a complete and detailed explanation of the purpose of this payment." I responded with a "complete and detailed explanation" which likely told the PayPal compliance representative far more than s/he ever wanted to know about 1970s Saturday morning television in general and a certain Egyptian-themed character specifically, as well as the comic art commission collecting hobby. My reply apparently persuaded the reader that I was not fomenting a national security threat, as PayPal promptly unlocked my account, released the funds to Aaron, and this gorgeous artwork resulted. Still, I can't shake the feeling that someone is watching my house... Social/Sharing |

Very nice drawing. But now the Feds are lurking all over CAF. Thanks, Rankins. (signed) Anonymous.

Very nice piece. I do wish Isis was more often used in comics and not confused with the terrorist group with the same name

Dude, it is the character's proper name. She was created long before the terrorists took the name. To not use it would be giving the terrorist power. to quote one of my favorite author, "Always use the proper name for things. Fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself." So I will call her Isis.

Beautiful, I had always hoped she would have popped up in the Cwverse one day, I know she did in the legends of tomorrow, but I wished it was the version from the old tv series, not a reimagined version
