DescriptionBlade Runner is my favorite movie. It has been for the past 30 or so years and it still holds up. I was just watching the original release on a plane a few hours ago although I prefer the non-narrated versions. Here is a page from the movie adaptation. It was printed in several formats including a 2 comic book limited series, a magazine size printing and a pocket book printing. There is so much I like about Blade Runner and this page is from a scene that takes place at the police headquarters. It features the origami by Gaff that is featured at various points in the movie and is important in answering the question if Deckard is an android or human and how that answer might change with the added dream sequence in the director's cut. In the movie Gaff makes an origami chicken in this scene and the unicorn which seems to be what is made on this page does't appear until the end of the movie and has become a symbol for the movie. Al Williamson's art was perfect for this series. It is difficult to know exactly who inked any particular page in this series as there were several inkers credited and others not-credited. Carlos Garzon is also credited as a penciller on some pages but I think this looks like Al. Inkers include Ralph Reese, Dan Green, Al Williamson and Carlos Garzon. It is likely Garzon did most of the inking on the first book and help was needed to get the second book out on time. I have had 2 other Blade Runner pages over the years but it has been about a decade since my last page. This page has extra meaning to me as it comes from the collection of a recently deceased friend and this page was gifted to him by Al Williamson with whom he was good friends with.Social/Sharing |

Al did an Incredible job capturing the look and feel of one of my Favorite films based on one of my favorite books. Color me Hulk Green with envy.
I was in a deal to acquire a key page myself years ago and it fell through on the sellers end.
Bravo, Jeff on this Superb Work👌🏾

Williamson captures a lot of the nuances in the acting performances in this early page that would make us understand these characters and their motivations moving forward. Along with the established future techno noir setting, they set the tone and establish the level of quality the following pages would follow.

John passed?!? Wow, I knew it was coming but it's still somehow "surprising". So sorry to hear that, man. Not much to say about this page now. It's typical of Williamson's brilliance, but made more special now due to its provenance!

At least they only arrested him. Can you imagine if they stole his car and uhhu... killed his dog?

This is awesome. Great storytelling, use of shadow, and such a strong sense atmosphere. Channels the classic flick while still standing alone as an outstanding sequential example! Congrats!

An amazing & visually moody piece so emblematic of the movie. What a beauty!

I loved Blade Runner. I loved Al Williamson. Yet, for some reason, the comic book for me was something I had to look back on later to appreciate, and I think now I know why. Al's masterful use of chiaroscuro caused no end of difficulty to the colorists and color separation folks, which, for me, created a visually unappealing book at the time.
Look at this page though. It is so beautiful in black and white. I would have probably loved the book at the time if it were published in black and white. Now, years later, I've learned to love it in color too.
" I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die. "
