DescriptionX-men vs Sentinels 18X23 The X-men Companion I 1981. I was picking up some original from Mitch Itkowitz of Graphic Collectibles back around 1990 and he asked if I wanted to see something cool he brought in for Kevin Eastman, I said sure and he pulled this Michael Golden out. WOW! I asked if it had sold and he said no, I asked if he would sell it to me and he said, OK. He even let me pay it off on time as at the time $1500 was more that I had in hand.Social/Sharing |

Absolutely stunning... Never been an X men fan, but Mr Golden's art is just unbelievably. I'm extremely jealous..... sigh...

I knew this had to be out there somewhere! I always wondered what the Sentinels looked like inked black on the original since they were printed purple on the book. One of my all-time favorites! Congrats!

Oh brother. You say not for sale, but boy are you gonna get hammered with offers for this one. This is a GRAIL for more than a few fans. Outstanding.

If one "really looks" at this piece....you can clearly see it surely wasn't "Byrne", or "Miller" that influenced the artists of the 80's & 90's. "Michael Golden" is a giant in the comic art field.....and this cover is Fantastic.

Every collector has their favorite stories about "the piece that got away." This is one of mine. Gosh, it must be about 15-20 years now. I think I only missed out on this by 48 hours (if not less). Never actually got to see it in it's original b&w form, only the published cover. Now I almost wish I hadn't. There is a lot of truly spectacular artwork on this site. Some of it actually manages to make me envious. But not many make me feel like weeping. You've managed to make a grown man cry. I hope you're proud of yourself! =)

This is absolutely sickening. After seeing this piece, everyone is going to re-evalute their collections and look for a phenominal Mike Golden piece. You have single - handedly made a lot of collectors cry. I hope you're happy with yourself :P

I saw this beauty hanging in a comic shop for the incalculable sum of $400 when I was a kid. It blew my mind then and set me on the path from comic book collector to comic book art collector (with an ongoing trip as comic book artist between). Like holy writ.

My jaw is completely on the floor... man what a killer piece. Micheal really shook up the industry with his unique vision and immense talent. This piece shows us what heights his art was capable of rising to. It is one of his best pieces ever. CONGRATS!!!

So this is the Golden piece that was spoken of in tongues at OAX. It is magnificent. Not sure how I missed it after almost 20 years on CAF and having visited your gallery many, many times. Oh, I know, I was too busy looking at all the other great art you have.
