DescriptionThe origin and first appearance of Marvel's Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell). Twice-up and in fantastic condition with all the original stats (see second photo for more detailed and uncropped version). Needless to say, I'm incredibly excited to have this masterpiece on my wall. I'll always feel tremendous gratitude toward the longtime owner for agreeing to part with such an important piece of artwork that was every bit as meaningful to him as it is to me. And special thanks, as usual, to my friend and colleague Todd Hignite for tracking this down and facilitating the purchase for me.Social/Sharing |

Wow, now that is impressive--such a striking and unusual image for Marvel at that time. Congrats!

When you add a new addition, it is an event. I've always been fond of this cover and it is good to see it land here on planet CAF.

I've always loved the onlookers pointing at Marvel in this shot, as if they blinked and he was suddenly there - the extraordinary among the ordinary, like they realized this was a moment they would remember forever!

I see a posting like this and it seriously reminds me of what an amatuer I am in this hobby. Amazing piece!

It was exciting to see this cover when it hit the stands fifty-some years ago. It is just as exciting to see this cover now, all these years later! Colan did some great covers and this is one of them! Congratulations!

Whoa! It's great to see this. As a kid, Fantasy Masterpieces and Marvel Super Heroes were favorite titles of mine, for all the golden age reprints.
