Description(Obtained from Marc Mokken in 2006).A sweet example of Dave Gibbons's work I think (albeit something non-Watchmen), which to me is only natural, since I like ALL Gibbons’ art I've come across. As yet my first cover, in both pencil and ink on vellum - featuring some pencils uninked (fist), as though to ascertain the best possible cut-off. The Give Me Liberty / Martha Washington mini-series or 'prestige format' graphic novel set as a whole appears a highpoint and culmination of 1990s innovating or diversifying superhero books: Frank Miller and Dave Gibbons taking Ayn Rand's science-fictional America as an objectivist dystopia (from "Atlas Shrugged") for a spin, visualizing the Everyman-type hero - about to vanquish or exonerate the adagium E Pluribus Unum as it were - as an Afro-American woman who happens to be named the same as America's first First Lady. Standing tall even amidst such trancendentally ancestral or be it frontrunning counterparts as dinosaurs or alien deity types figuratively. Bleeding a little, but not much, for a badge of honor. I don't know whether it'd be a theoreticalness in delivery or just the implied patriotism to this bookline keeping me taken aback, but for reading I'll personally like Sin City or Ronin much better to be honest. Evenso, I love the way a look at this strong cover distinctly renders a glimpse 'into the kitchen' graphically. Thank you CAF-member Tony Marine for assuring me this being the finished cover instead of a prelim. [layout dimensions 11.5" x 8.8" or 26,9 cm x 20,6 cm] Social/Sharing |

Cool piece! I used to own one of these, and you are mistaken - this is the finished cover, not a preliminary. You can see it here: http://www.comics.org/covers.lasso?SeriesID=26391

Ah, well I do find the art to look very much like the printed material, but while posting it here I thought it best to stick to the vendor's description. You see I tend to see myself as being rather a novice or hobby-ist (I do play mean racket-ball though). I thank you for your info and will look into it closely.
