I wondered how quick you would post this. Quite possibly the best Adams Deadman panel page... in costume in every panel... fighting his only costumed villain... with the classic profile in panel four. Well done, Sean.

Wow. This is a nice page. When I was a kid, SA #208 was one of the comic books that caught my eye and turned me into a Adams freak. Congrats.

I love the way he builds the action and leaves you breathless to reach the next page with that final panel. I mean, I've read the story several times, but now I am ready to go see how it turns out all over again.

It has been 3 years since last I commented on this page. I have been spending a lot more time dissecting storytelling elements and I felt this great page deserved a bit more commenting on. The storytelling on it is amazing. The top tier with the panels enlarging and growing vertically builds dramatic tension until the shout. A smaller panel drawing our attention to a small storytelling detail, a seemingly innocuous hand gesture turns into a brutal assault. There is a timing and cadence set up in the two tiers that leads to the dramatic final panel which has the equivalent effect of a splash but set up so it is not needed. In a modern comic this whole sequence would likely have involved more pages and splashes to get the same story line across. Few others could have done it so dramatically and accomplished it with such finesse in a single page. I know Neal is know for his art style but for me his real gift was in his layouts and story telling.
