Description

For years and years, I had a commission in mind should I ever be lucky enough to ask Paul Smith, one of my absolute favorites for a piece. The time finally came...and I asked for something else. Couldn't tell you why, it was just one of those lightning bolt impulses. And I'm so glad I did -- not because I think my other choice wouldn't have been as fun, but because this one came out so much better than I could have imagined, showing off the artist's innate sense of fun an whimsy, not to mention to gorgeous fine detail of the background. And I still have the chance to look forward to perhaps still asking the artist for that long-coveted commission. Gerry Turnbull told me commissioning Paul Smith for a drawing would be one of my best such experiences, and he could not have been more right. Thank you, Gerry, and thank you, PMS!

Thanks, Patrick, and all of you. Steve, the backgrounds really hit me, as well. Most of the other stuff by the same artist I have doesn't have b/g's at all, so this really surprised me. To me. it almost has a Paul Chadwick feel.
