DescriptionWhile I would never go so far as to say that FM is over rated, I am happy to learn that I'm not the only one who doesn't think that highly of him as an artist. And this coming from a comic legend who is generally considered to be the best draftsman in the history of the medium.Social/Sharing |

I have to agree with John. Franks a better writer and design/ layout artist than he is at drawing. Ther are hundreds of better comic artists. Hes good but not John or Jack or Steve or...make up your own list. Still, he wrote my favorite comic book!

To be fair, I posted this quote long before I got my first Miller piece. As I have stated repeatedly, I was in no hurry to buy a Miller. I can read his great stories over and over again, but he will never make my list of favorite artists. That being said, I have a lot more respect for his drawing abilities than others I could mention. Ultimately, while I agree with Buscema's sentiment regarding Miller's art, I probably wouldn't go quite so far as to call it lousy.

Hi, I think I may have been a bit unclear. There have probably been tens of thousands of comic artists, most sadly forgotten by the bulk of collectors. While Franks art is not in my top twenty or even fifty, his writing is. His art got really, really sloppy. Design wise, hes still great. Very few artists can produce peak work for long periods anyway. The well has limits.
