DescriptionFor months now, I've been frothing at the mouth, dreaming of acquiring one of these, and now I’m absolutely delighted to share this exquisite drawing of Jean Grey as Marvel Girl by the artistic genius that is Ulan Abrera with all of you! This is a veritable gem that transcends the ordinary. The delicate interplay of light and shadow evokes the refined subtlety of a Vermeer, where each line and contour appears to have been rendered with both precision and poetic grace. The gentle, yet assured strokes capture a softness in her gaze and a quiet dynamism in her form, imbuing the piece with an almost ethereal quality.I feel immense gratitude to you, Marcus, for the generosity in selling me this remarkable work. In every nuanced detail, from the tender modulation of tones to the delicate balance between bold strokes and soft textures, there’s an unmistakable hint of burgeoning genius, a promise of a prodigious talent echoing the mastery of the great old masters. This drawing isn’t simply a youthful creation. It's a rare, evocative masterpiece that speaks to the timeless allure of art. Naturally, no collection of original comic art can truly be considered complete (or legitimate) without a proper Certificate of Authenticity, and I’m thrilled to report that this newly acquired Ulan Marvel Girl drawing comes with just such a document! Not just any COA, mind you, but a printed out email. An artifact of such provenance and scholarly weight that it could singlehandedly settle disputes at The Hague. In a hobby where fakes are virtually nonexistent and every piece is universally trusted to be the genuine article, having a COA elevates one’s acquisition to a higher plane of collecting. It's a beacon of truth, a talisman against doubt, and an unequivocal sign to the world that yes, this was indeed drawn by Ulan herself, likely with snack time approaching. Let this be a lesson to all: Without a COA, are you even collecting? Social/Sharing |

I love the confidence being displayed by this young superstar. In an era when so many of our artist heroes are afraid to draw feet, Miss Abrera does not shy away from this daunting anatomical challenge. You are absolutely right, no collection is complete without an Ulan masterpiece. So congratulations to you on taking your collection to the next level. Color me jealous.

Thanks, Eric. Everything you pointed out about Ulan is right on the mark and it makes me proud to know that my acquiring this piece makes you jealous!

You want to take this beauty from me right after I've just received it, and in trade rather than cash? Then YOU come up with some trade propositions and send them over to me. Just understand that there is very little likelihood that you could possibly have ANYTHING that would be worth having even more than this piece is.

I love how ULAN signed and dated this fine art masterpiece, right in the upper left hand corner...as if it was with immediate intent, made for the watermarked overlay of a Comic Book Art Gallery dot com "web site" business owned by DaCollector of culture defining artworks such as this. As a fellow privelaged and honored owner of ULAN's brilliance on paper like myself, I welcome you to our exclusive fraternity. I only envy the COA of a printed out email that your fine piece came along with from the one known as the Wai of Marcus. All I got was a digital print out of a conversation from a CAF inbox with the one known as the Suarez of Lance, but he said I had to print it out myself only using the finest printer ink in all of the land, on the finest printer paper stock in all of the Staples stores on the eastern seaboard. My god, how the hell do we top these moments in our collecting careers? I shed a tear even thinking about the future dissapointment of every art package from here on out, looking longingly into the horizon in the distance, dreaming of a day when ULAN strikes our mailboxes again. Congratulations isn't enough. Good luck from here on out feels more appropriate...god speed.

After last week's acquisition and now this one, I'm definitely DaCollector of culture defining artworks! Thank you for welcoming me into your exclusive fraternity. For over a year now, I quietly stewed in anger and jealousy, as I saw one collector after another acquire these rare and highly coveted Ulan originals. It was not only my desire to own an example of artistic greatness, but also to be a part of the Ulan Art Collective. I will forever treasure the art (Unless I can flip it for a fat profit!) and the sense of fraternal brotherhood that comes with being a part of the Collective.
Oh, and keep your head up. You clearly have not been educated on what it means to own a COA in the form of a digital print out of a conversation from a CAF inbox with the one known as the Suarez of Lance. Were it not for the fact that I would lament the loss tremendously, I would trade you my printed out email COA for yours. Trust me when I tell you that yours has so much more value that you currently imagine. Treasure it!

10K? I guess I priced it too low. I should have accounted for the reciprocal tariffs to Canada that should bump this non traditional asset class to the stratosphere. You sure can spot talent. You flat out turned down my Bolland art and was laser focused on this Ulan piece. My loss is your gain.

Well, I paid you $4,000 for it, which I've come to understand is the average going rate for these on the secondary market, for those of us not fortunate enough to get them directly from Ulan herself at the artist direct price of $10. I didn't want to be greedy, so I figured a 1.5x multiple was fair.
As for the Bolland art, you KNOW I love it, but as good as it is, it just doesn't hold a candle to Ulan's talent and abilities, and more importantly, it isn't RARE! I assure you that unlike every other piece in my collection, I will definitely take this one to the grave with me. Unless I can flip it, then I'd rather have the cash. Maybe then I can use that cash to buy some Bolland art from you. But that aside, I will definitely treasure and keep this forever. Unless someone else offers me something I like even more. But THAT aside, I definitely have EVERY intention of keeping this always. Unless a very specific Grummett cover is offered to me in trade.

I know, I know. I'm spent the last 24 hours doing a lot of thinking. I'm now contemplating bringing my Comic Art Show & Tell series to an end. After all, how could I possibly take anyone's art collection seriously now that I own this piece along with the Rubrats Blade Runner piece I posted last week? But hey, you know what they say, Rick. If you got it, flaunt it!

Yet another masterpiece to add to your museum quality collection. Your taste in fine art continues to amaze and baffle me. How do you do it?? And a much sought after Abrera no less! Could you please leave at least some of the better pieces for the rest of us??

What can I say, Steve? When you got it, you GOT IT! I've already made it perfectly clear that this one is going to the grave with me. But hey, if you want it for $10k, I'll flip it to you! Don't forget, the original also comes with a genuine email printout COA, not to mention my place as a member of the Ulan Art Collective. Think about it!

Hahaha! No repeat characters except for unicorns.
Seriously, the erudite and grandiloquent way you describe the piece in that first paragraph of your description makes me think you'd also be great at writing out descriptions on a wine list.
Congratulations on an ethereal portrayal of Marvel Girl drawn by a true master.

Ah, my most loquacious and discerning friend, your perspicacious observation has not gone unnoticed. I shall henceforth consider moonlighting as a sommelier of the arts, decanting verbose vintages of visual verbiage for the delight of cultured palates such as yours!

I don't know that she's ever attempted Horror. I believe it's been superheroes only so far. Let's see what happens as she gets a little older.

Many congrats, Rubén! You will of course know that this is the rarest of the rare artwork emanating from the Abrera household and that, given her talent even at this very young age, you have simultaneously stole a march on all the rest of us because this will be beyond valuable when she does in fact become famous (seriously speaking). You are a wily one, my friend!

Thank you, CAB, I am a wily one indeed. I can spot talent from a mile away. And flipping opportunities. But mainly art buying opportunities that I will treasure for all my days. Unless I can flip them quickly and/or for lots of money. Except when they mean a lot to me, as this one does and I insist I'll keep it forever. As long as nobody tempts me with a good offer!

You have me worried. Virtually all of the artwork I have has no COA. Is it real? Is anything? I saw The Matrix. Just waiting for Larry or Keanu to burst through a window or wall as I write this. Which pill was for what again? Charming work by the way.

Yes, that's correct, Peter. Without COAs, the majority of your collection is worthless. The good news is that I've opened up a company (We Dump For U) to help collectors in your position. All you need do is pack up all the art that doesn't have a COA and you ship it to this company, and we dispose of it for you. No mess, no fuss.
