DescriptionThis is a fabulous page featuring Black Widow in action as she swings and somersaults across the New York City rooftops, from the acclaimed run written by Ed Brubaker. Aside from the content, this page also stands as a great example of Perkins' wash and dry brush technique. Since I am always too fair and honest for my own good, I allowed this to be sold when Perkins first sent me the pages (I'm his art representative), and then had to buy it back in the secondary market several years later. At a higher price, natch. Still, I'm glad to have it back and in my collection.Social/Sharing |

This page is unbelievable, Ruben, and absolutely haunting in the sense that you describe: had it been within your grasp once, from which it then escaped, one would absolutely be utterly driven to reacquire it to look upon it once more... Mike had a great run on Captain America, and I'm going to need to go back and re-read his issues, just to confirm that I would not be lying to say that this may very well be the finest page from his run (a 'best page' doesn't need the titular character on it, in my book. It certainly doesn't hurt, mind you, but it's certainly not needed here!).
Incredible detail in that brain-melting third panel, but it might actually be the architecture in the first two panels (the composition of the first, and the challenging POV in the second) that is my favorite, and his command of anatomy here is so solid; it reminds me of the great Bryan Hitch. Incredible page, Ruben. Sincere (and well-earned!) congrats on hunting this one back down.
