Description

Al Williamson is one of the greatest illustrators ever to grace the newspaper strip field, and this is one of his greatest examples. Love it!

Lot's of great textures in this daily - I love the pants! *Spoiler Alert!* I've been looking for a good X-9 example for years. One problem I've found - Williamson draws almost all his women with crossed-eyes! Anyone else notice this? (you may never look at his strips the same...!)

Jeez, what an example. I mean WHAT AN EXAMPLE. Pretty unbelievable that Williamson was turning these out daily...

Amazing! I don't think I've ever seen a single panel Corrigan strip before!

Oh man what a beautiful strip! I can't imagine reading this as it was coming out and THIS is the latest installment? What a cliffhanger!

Yeah, no kidding. Remember also, the vast majority of readers likely never saw a single panel daily in their entire lives, if only because of how rarely strip artists did them. So imagine opening "the funnies" and seeing this giant image of Corrigan lying there dazed, as a grenade bounces towards him. "Holy shit, I can't miss tomorrow's paper, I gotta see how he gets outta this!".

Incredibly gorgeous single panel. The hair, the hands, the pants... everything Al rendered with exquisite care. Great pickup!

Al is my all-time favourite artist so I was pleasantly surprised to see this wonderful example in your gallery.

Al captured the mood in this panel so perfectly that you could cut the tension with a knife.  Pure genious, and one of the top 3 Corrigan strips of all time.  Congrats!

Yeah, thanks Yoram. I really do love it. I never wanted to go down the Williamson X-9 rabbit hole and knew that all it would take to do so is to buy myself more than one. So I told myself to wait until a great example becomes available and just be happy with that one as my "one and done". I've come close to going down the rabbit hole a few times, but always managed to resist and be content with this one, so it all worked out.

The fabrics, hair, shadows, the turned-over magazine box, wow!! Incredible example of his work!
