DescriptionHere is some really early professional work by Milton Caniff as he ghosted on this strip. Dumb Dora is a fun strip started by Chick Young featuring a flapper. When Young starts another flapper strip named Blondie he left the chores to Paul Fung who then leaves to work on other comic projects and Bill Dwyer is hired. Bill met Milton Caniff while they were at OSU and when Bill got hired to take over Dumb Dora he enlisted Milt's help in writing and drawing strips as he had only done single panel gags in the past. Although Caniff has some published editorial cartoons, Dumb Dora was to be some of Caniff's earliest published works in syndicated comics.Social/Sharing |
