Description

Nice, early piece of art by Milton Caniff. Milt created Dickie Dare to compete with Wash Tubbs and his work on this strip led him to being asked to create a new adventure strip. That new strip would be Terry and Pirates and would become one of the most popular and influential strips of all time. Here the early genius is present but needs some cultivating and refining. Caniff would have already met and been sharing a studio with Noel Sickles by this point and the synergy and mutual evolution that would occur over the next 2 years of their careers would be immense.
