Description

Fun piece done like a comic strip but to advertise newspaper distribution and delivery boys/routes. Nice homage to Flagg's Uncle Sam recruitment image of Steve in the first panel. A nice Caniff girl in the second panel(I am embarrassed to say I have not read far enough into Canyon to encounter her yet). There is a paste up of smoke over the original Caniff signature and then a pasted on signature in the final panel. The guy in the background is also an add on. Holding it up to the light, it looks just like a suburban street and so the reader was added later. I am guessing this is from the early 60's. Steve never wore a helmet until he started flying jets in the mid 50's so this could potentially be a later 50's piece too. Regardless, fun stuff by my favorite strip artist.

Don't worry, you may not have read enough to see her in Steve Canyon, but that's okay because you already saw her plenty in Terry and the Pirates. Her name is Dragon Lady! Great piece.
