DescriptionMy fave cover from the run. I love Byrne and Cockrum as much as the next guy, but don't forget how incredible this Smith run was on X-men back then.Social/Sharing |

I remember buying this one off the newsstand and was blown away by how thick the comic was... I still have that original copy that I bought way back when! Paul Smith seemed like a radical change from Dave Cockrum, but I really liked the look of his run on the book. Great stuff!

One of my favorite covers from PMS' run. Paul started his career at Ralph Bakshi's animation studio and it shows. His figures were always fluid with nice clean lines. Just a fantastic cover. Cheers! N.

This was the first X-Men cover I bought off the stands. I was always suckered in to buy those double-sized issues. Very cool piece of nostalgia!

I understand how much everyone loves byrne but I think that smith was just as good an artist. Beautiful clean character lines. I love this man's work. Thanks for sharing.

Paul Smith is fantastic... his run on this title was about 50 issues too short for my liking

Awesome cover. Paul Smith was such a great fit for this book and a perfect recipient of the Byrne/Cockrum torch.

Motherfu$#er!!! I hate you, Dave. That was the cover to my first X-men comic book that I bought with my own money. Such fond memories. Paul Smith will always be the X-men artist for me. Awesome art collection as always, Dave. :-)

This is a super cover but you know what I love the most on it? The corner box - these were the x-men of my youth when I finally managed to get a regular subscription of the title arranged. Any issue with this corner box art (cockrum?) really gets the nostalgia flowing for me. Thanks for posting this - just great to see it

Classic! PSmith's run on UXM was so short and yet so influential. Timeless!

Paul Smith's X-Men was my first subscription to Marvel comics when I was little. They came wrapped in like a brown paper cover and for some odd reason they always sent me 2 copies every month. Then Paul started doing Dr. Strange after this.

Exactly, Paul Smith did an incredible run on this title. My Favorite New X-Men artist before John Byrne and Dave Cockrum too. This cover bring a lot of memories and yes, it's for me the best of the serie. Great story, great book and awesome cover. Congratulations David, a real Masterpiece.
