I have been casually looking for a Stan Sakai Usagi Yojimbo piece for a while. About a month and half ago Albert Moy listed this piece for sale on his site. Unfortunately at the time I couldn't afford it and shortly thereafter the piece was marked On Hold. I decided to move on since normally once a piece is On Hold it ends up selling. At the end of May, Albert listed a couple new pieces which led me back to his Stan Sakai pieces. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that this piece was available again. I decided it must have been fate so I sent an inquiry on it and ended up purchasing it the next day.

When I saw this piece I immediately loved the dynamic pose. There are a lot of Stan Sakai commission sketches that show up but this piece just really drew me in. I love the menacing look on Usagi's face and the way the katana just jumps out at you. It is unlike any of the other pieces I have seen by Stan. I didn't find out until after I had purchased the piece that it was actually published on the back cover of Issue 94. I just happened to find that out while I was looking through CAF to see if it was listed here. That made the piece even cooler then it already was. I wasn't expecting it to be published yet alone a back cover. Just an awesome piece that I am very happy to own.
