DescriptionThis was an advertisement that ran in a bunch of different Marvel Comcis for a run on Dr. Strange by Roger Stern and Frank Miller that never happened. From what I am told, at the time Daredevil was still only bi-monthly, and so Jim Shooter wanted his rising star Miller on another book This would have been that book, with what I can only imagine would have been great stories by one of my fave Marvel writers Stern (love his Cap with Byrne!). Anyway, enjoy and think about what might have been.Social/Sharing |

Ah, Frank, always batting after Gene Colan... : ) Actually, this is awesome, Dave. Miller is so earthbound, Dr. Strange might have confounded him enough to really do something great. I sort of imagine ASM Annual 2 as a direction he might have gone.

Oh man.......this was a favorite image of mine as a kid. When I think of the comics of that era, this is probably one of the top 10 images that pops in to my head. A true classic!!

This appeared in Dr. Strange #45, and all books cover dated Feb 1980 (Including X-Men #142!). After this came out, Miller took over writing Daredevil AND the book went monthly, which obviously meant Dr. Strange was out. One of the great 'what ifs...' of comic creative history. Amazing piece, wonderful pick-up, possibly a grail. Congrats! (mutter, mutter, mumble gripe...) ;)

Fantastic example. The use of light and shadow is amazing. As mesmerizing as any Doc Strange art should be

I remember this ad, but I guess I never realized the book didn't happen. Congratulations on getting this. It's a very neat piece of comic book 'almost history!'
