DescriptionDan is a superb talent and when his commission list opened up I grabbed a spot right away. He is a true professional, keeps his deadlines, stays in constant contact and is a man of his word. I would trust him withoutt a second thought....my highest praise.Dan and I had long emails back and forth about what sort of piece to do. I love his painting style, his palette, and his take on facial expressions. When I mentioned the Wicked Witch of the West everything clicked. I am a huge fan of the OZ series of books, and Dan is an even bigger fanatic. The resulting piece is a gorgeous oversized (16x24) fully painted piece that mixes the best parts and characters of the books with the memorable parts of the film (ruby slippers and dorothy's look). Throw in Dan's Monica Belluci-style Wicked Witch, some flying monkeys and one stuffed dog and you have a masterpiece. I can't thank Dan enough and I would be remiss in not thanking Bryan Wagoner for making all the introductions between me and Dan in the first place. Without Bryan I would not have this piece. Best wishes all. Social/Sharing |

Great use of colour. Dan really went all out adding almost every character from OZ to it. And the little touches like the ruby slippers behind the Wicked Witches leg. Congrats!

You know, I saw the words "Trophy Wall" and thought, "Another one?" But then I hit the link and looked at it, and, as usual, chuckled and applauded. Aside from (maybe) the original and the Bizarro wall, this one ranks at the very top.

My favorite of your trophy wall pieces. It is a great theme but more importantly it seems to bring artists to new heights.

You know I love this wondrous theme and this is a superb piece but I have mixed feelings on it only because I have loved this movie since I was about 2 and it's going to give me nightmares.

It was a pleasure and a challenge , thank you. Inspiration counts for a lot - I had mixed feelings about the gruesome aspect of the theme as juxtaposed with my favorite childhood ( beloved!) Ozians, but it was too cool an idea to pass up - The boy in me prefers to think of these “trophies” as awaiting rescue in some as-yet-to-be written chapter of a forgotten tale...
