DescriptionFor years, I've wondered what would happen if Doc Savage, the Man of Bronze, and Doc Samson, the Man of Green Hair, got into a toe-to-toe scuffle. I couldn't imagine a better artist to answer the question than veteran Herb Trimpe, who co-created Doc Samson during his legendary run as penciler on The Incredible Hulk. Looks like it's going to be a draw...A few years after Mr. Trimpe drew this spectacular piece, I had the pleasure of meeting him in person at WonderCon 2008 and taking a photo of him proudly holding his creation. Sadly, it would be my only opportunity to meet Herb, who passed away shortly thereafter. Still more years later, legendary inker Al Gordon took on the assignment of embellishing Herb's pencils. Their styles fit together perfectly -- it's unfortunate that Al never got to ink Herb on a published project. This is Common Elements #16. Social/Sharing |
