DescriptionHere is a fun Polly and Her Pals daily from 1936 by Paul Fung who worked for Cliff Sterrett on this series. Paul Fung and his son Paul Fung Jr. are among the many assistant artists behind the scenes in comic's history. Paul Fung Sr. worked on Dumb Dora after Chic Young left the strip and his Jr. would go on to assist Chic Young on Blondie.I thought this was a really fun instalment and reminds us of how important newspapers and print media were back in the day. I know when the Saturday morning paper came to our house, it was quickly split up and sections were passed around(In Canada the Saturday paper is the big one with the color comics and not the Sunday paper like in the US). An absolutely fantastic example, perfectly emblematic of the times for those of us who grew up with the newspaper being delivered to our homes!

I know you wanted Saturday
But I can't ignore the Polly visions of these in Sundays
I heard that there's a special page
Where boys and girls can all go read every single day
I'm having wicked dreams of reading Young's Blondie
Newspaper Canada, I swear it's calling me
Won't make Dumb Dora proud, it's gonna cause a scene
She sees her Polly girl, I know she's gonna scream
God, what have you Young?
You're an ink Polly girl
And your Pal is Paul Fung
Oh mama, I'm just having fun
On the page in the news
It's where I belong down at the
Ink Paulie Fung
I'm gonna keep on dancing at the
Ink Polly Club
I'm gonna keep on dancing drawn in
Best Paulie could
I'm gonna keep on dancing at the
Ink Polly Club, ink Paulie Fung
