This cover, which I think was the last FF cover Kirby drew for Marvel, was simple but effective. It perfectly captured that special thrill that the double-sized anniversary spectaculars promised the young comic book reader. (And attesting to just how special this issue was were the five or six blaring banners that the original art is either sadly or happily missing -- depending on your point of view,)

Doom on a landmark FF cover would have been enough, but you got the King and his greatest inker to boot. AMAZING!! Congrats Michael!!

I've long wondered where this one was -- congratulations on it. Kirby's last FF cover, inked by Sinnott, featuring the primal fight between Reed and Victor. It's interesting to see how Kirby was handling machinery by then. It's all design now, rather than feeling functional, and geez but the composition is perfect. Whenever you get a chance to make a flat scan (the current image is at an angle) it will be great to see how Reed's fist works -- your eye wants to move around the image in an oval, and the weight at the bottom is massive. It's a terrific piece, good work.

Oh MY GOD!!! I just clicked the link thinking it was one of your great OML's and was floored when I saw the actual picture of the art! Where on earth did you come across this beauty? Amazing and one of my all time fave covers!

This is a museum quality piece. Very nostalgic (as well as aesthetic) with the logos, an action scene that relates to the interrior story, background and inks compared to some of the modern day artwork of today that's simply light penciled pin-ups that don't even relate to the story. I remember when comics hitting landmark issues like #100 and #200 were celebrated with grand pageantry like this, before the whole "new series" #1 first issue marketing gimmicks of today.

It's an original art addition ~ such as this ~ as to why CAF shall long endure. One of the greatest Kirby/Sinnott/Doom covers of all-time. I still remember that tinge of excitement I felt when I first purchased this landmark issue. And I still read it to this very day. God has blessed you with true greatness. "CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR GREATEST SCORE"!

The power of Kirby on full display. I can't think of a finer swan song for Jack as he left the hallowed halls of the company he elevated to greatness.

So often it's The Thing who gets featured duking it out on a big battle cover. But it's nice to see Mister Fantastic get the spotlight for a change. And against Doom no less! Wow! Have you been able to wipe the smile off your face yet? Anyway, congratulations!

As far as Famous Doctor Doom Covers go, this one might only be topped by the art from FF#5. From a guy who loves his bad guys armored, congratulations!

There is a visceral thrill in your youth when you do something that brings you tremendous enjoyment. Reading FF 200 in my youth -- when it really was the world's greatest comic magazine -- was one of those thrilling things. Seeing this cover in your gallery after all these years brought back that amazing feeling. I can only imagine how terrific it must feel to have this historic cover in your collection. Tremendous congratulations!

Michael--What do I say about this masterpiece? It's a splendid example of Jack Kirby's tremendous talent. I love the way Kirby drew Reed Richards here, one arm twisting like a snake around Doom's arm, the other arm extending out towards the reader, ready to smack the villain. The Malevolent look on Doom's face. The marvelous wreckage of the machinery behind them. Joe Sinnott's fabulous inks. Words fail me. It's just...phenomenal!
