Description

It's been a very long time since I've had a vintage George Perez Avengers page in my collection. I've had a few notable examples over the years but unfortunately, I had to part with each of them to take care of real-life expenses. Growing up, The Avengers by Perez was my first book that I waited impatiently every month for the next issue to arrive at my local candy store. I was fortunate to come into his initial run on the book with his second issue, #142, and I was hooked for his entire, classic run!

This is the first annual I bought off the newsstand as they were extremely hard to find in my neighborhood. I loved the continuation of this story and seeing Wonder Man fight alongside the Avengers for the first time since his return from the "dead".

When I started collecting original, published art, over 20 years ago, I discovered in a hurry that Perez's art, especially his Avengers art was hard get! Hard core collectors already had tracked down and acquired a lot of it. These days a lot of the key, vintage pages are well entrenched in loving collections, and again difficult to pry loose.

I want thank Michael for making this page available during last year's Comic Art Live sale and for working with me on a fair payment plan that allowed me to make this purchase.

I'd love to get a page inked by Pablo Marcos but art from earlier books are welcomed also.

Really exciting early Perez out to make a name for himself on his biggest title assignment. Every bit of this is storytelling with fine design and execution!

Great piece Rich! One of my favorite Perez early run issues. Issue 141 was my first Perez issue and also was hooked after that.
