Description

Virgil Finlay drew this image for James H. Schmitz's thriller, "The Beacon to Elsewhere." In the story, Lieutenant Frank Dowland of the Solar Police Authority tries to recover a large quantity of a dangerous substance, YM-400, on Lion Mesa, but then pandemonium breaks loose. The pictured woman uses the YM-400 to open a hole into another dimension-- and something there disapproves.
A familiar experience from my own misspent youth...
