DescriptionThis is a personal Grail for me!I mentioned I had to warm to Kirby in my tender years, well this one was smack down in the thick of it, and Kirby’s return to Marvel just lit the flame. Now, I'm old enough to have watched Saturday morning serials of Flash Gordon—those early 70's reruns with Buster Crabbe. Anyway, if you recall those days, you probably remember yelling at those small B&W tubes, "Get 'em, Flash!!" or "Flash, behind you!!" Well, this fantastic spread's the same in that it disturbed and affected the young me, and I probably yelled like a lil' girl, “NO, MACHINE MAN, DON'T HELP IT TO ENTER OUR WORLD!!” ;) Art from 1978, signed by the King - 22x17. Spectacular piece! Machinery! Kirby-krackle! Space! I've always loved latter-day Kirby (I just obtained a Justice Inc. page) and this is one of the nicest pieces I've seen. Congratulations!

God almighty, in this gallery you have two of the most powrful DPS I have ever seen. Kirby 60's work was the most important from an historical POV, but 70s works like the ones you are showing here definetely had something more in terms of imaginery and originality. Great, great piece.

Like you, it took me awhile to warm up to Kirby's art. I remember buying the Machine Man comics off the spinner rack at my local 7-11 store; they were a lot of fun to read, but the artwork did not sing to me then. Now I really appreciate Kirby's work and pages like this blow me away; I wish I would have seen the light when I first started collecting!!

Everyone loves Kirby's work co-creating the Marvel Universe but for those willing to dig deeper, Kirby's take on Sci-Fi showcases his genius. I can see why this is a personal grail in a wonderful collection. Cheers ! N. 😀

This, along with the splash, sure as heck constitutes a grail 1-2-3 punch! Just don't pass beyond the Comics Code Seal, or the whole will collapse!!
Still remember buying this book. It, along with The Eternals #10 were my 1st Kirby Bronze-Age books. What great memories.

Wow, I love to see Kirby pieces like this, especially when done on a huge DPS canvas - he really gets to flex his artistic and creative muscle. Space! Kirby crackle! Kirby machinery! This one has it all. Congrats!
