DescriptionI’ve already written about my enjoyment of this series in other parts of my gallery – and pretty much thought I had scratched the itch of collecting pieces from or related to it. But, when I saw this one as part of the most recent Sotheby’s Paris auction, I was just struck by the perfect imagery of one of my favorite anti-heroes, Marshal Law.The image was used in the 1990 Graphitti Designs limited hardcover collecting the first storyline (subsequently named Fear & Loathing) and the second storyline (originally titled Marshal Law Takes Manhattan and simply called Crime & Punishment in the Graphitti edition). When I finally received the package, I was delighted to see not only how bold the art was – but also how large it was. A quick mental calculation when reviewing the auction catalog (in centimeters) put the art in the range of a standard comic art board. But, the art is actually on an almost 14x21 piece of comic art board – and it makes a big visual difference. The image explodes off the paper as only Kevin O’Neill can do. A big thank-you to Ron Sonenthal for the assist on procuring this one! Social/Sharing |

I can't remember a single thing about the story anymore, but I do have vivid memories about the visuals (I was always an artist follower rather than a writer followerin any case), and they still hold up well today, despite the 1980's sensibilities. Great piece of work to add to your collection, Chris!

Great piece of work to add to your collection, Chris! The stories are still great to read, not dated and some of the extremist comics written and drawn. Best antihero ever!

Truly an exceptional piece, wow! Love the patriotic flag as backdrop to such chaos and firepower...just add a Heavy metal soundtrack!

Besides a LOEG example, this would be something I would want from O'Neill. Great pick up (as usual)!!!! Congrats Ronan!!!!

Congrats! Can't forget that I was bidding on this while riding in a cab, but you and someone else took it to another level and I couldn't do the euro conversions in my head fast enough while the cabbie was hurling along the FDR to compete. You are a lucky guy! Its a fantastic image. Doubtful you'll ever tire of it, but if you do, let me know!

Beautiful piece of artwork mate. Very lucky man to get a chance to buy such a lovely piece.
I’ve recently bought a Marshal Law cover to go with my interior pages from Fear and Loathing. The art is incredible to look at close up. The colours are vibrant and the inking precise. Definitely my favourite pieces in the collection.
Mic you ever want to sell let me know. It’d go nicely with the others.
