DescriptionSorry, not the best scan but....This piece was used as the cover to the yellow hardcover British collection of Steranko's Cap stories. That yellow book was my first exposure to Steranko's work and this cover lived in my dreams for a long time. Social/Sharing |

Talk about iconic...truly amazing, incredibly powerful image, in both energy and emotion. Love the movie poster feel that Steranko brought to covers, and you got one of, if not THE best, of all! Congrats!

That's incredible, David. Art of this caliber doesn't come around very often. Thanks for sharing.

I have a copy of that yellow British HC Cap book, and felt the same way about this cover when I first saw it. Magnificent work!

Another earth-shatteringly adequate addition to a mind-numbingly passable collection. Thanks for inducing traumatic retinal failure, you're all heart.

One of Steranko's best. A true rarity given his short lived stint in the comics industry. Thanks for posting. Cheers! N.

Jeebus! Your new updates almost leave me at a loss for words. I wonder if will you ever feel like Alexander the Great - surveying the extent of your collection, and weeping at the thought that there is no more mind-blowing comic art left to acquire?

My God man...a Steranko cover... I agree, it's tough to find just one piece in your collection to comment on Dave, but I had to on this one. Everytime I flip through my comic boxes, I stop at the Steranko covers - decades later, they remain a brilliant picture of what comics can be. Congrats!

I remember purcasing this comic book when it came out in the sixties as a kid, and thought the cover was the greatest image I had ever seen!
Guess what, I still do !!!!

Captain 007 America! The name's America! Captain America! I can't believe Marvel only had Steranko draw only three issues of Captain America! DUH! He should have drawn the next 50 issues easily! Steranko needs to do a Capt.A GN, telling the history of Capt.A from WWII though the 9-11 atleast!

Funny I have the same yellow hardcover book and that book is still in relatively nice shape after all these years but that was my first exposure to steranko too. Those books were great. Had the British tpbs of spidey, hulk and ff reprinting their first issues too

The inks on this piece are glorious. Like many of the great works of art it just makes you want to stare at all the details and when you are done go back and study it all over again.
