DescriptionDay 17. Thirty-one days of Star Wars (2025 edition).Star Wars: Prelude to Rebellion was the first story arc of the Star Wars: Republic series of comic books. It spanned issues 1 to 6 of Dark Horse Comics' ongoing series, originally titled simply Star Wars. The second part takes place on the planet Cerea, home of Jedi Knight Ki-Adi-Mundi, and revolves around a storyline between Ki and his daughter, Sylvn. Yep, this Jedi has a big family, there's always an exemption or asterisk from the Jedi code it seems. In this case, Mundi was permitted to frequently visit his homeworld and practice polygamy, having four wives and seven daughters. This exception was made because Cereans had an extremely low male birth rate, with only one male born for every 20 females. On this page, Ki meets with an old friend and informant, Ydde. Fearing for his life, Ydde tells Ki nothing and walks away from him. Perhaps because he looks like a Conehead family member from the old SNL skit. This is the May! Social/Sharing |

The summer Winn, came blowin' in from across the Ydde
It lingered there to touch your hair and Anthony
All summer long with Robert Jones and then Ki strolled that olden land
Cool sweet arts and the summer Winn

Interesting. This is the closest I've seen Star Wars art look like to the original Marvel run from the 90's onward.

Ki-Adi-Mundi! I was heavily reading Star Wars comics at this time! Very cool!

I love Ki-Adi-Mundi, yes!!! This is a cool page, I don't think I've seen much artwork from this period of the Dark Horse books in the late 90s. I'll have to go down a rabbit hole and see what's on CAF or elsewhere!

That first panel is fantastic - really sets the mood and defines the space. I'm glad Ydde is standing up for themselves.

Awesome page from the first story arc in Dark Horse's Star Wars title. Winn really shows off his talent for crosshatching and line work to creat a dark and foreboding atmosphere within a shady space port cantina. Congrats on a great pick up!
