I love how Kirby gracefully works three stories into one image: 1. Cap hugging a woman. 2. Guy about to shoot them. 3. Falcon about to disarm the assassin.

Yes Glen- Thank you! You completely get it. Kirby was such a great visual stoyteller. We are drawn in by the pov of the killer through the weapon's sight scope- determined to get the kill shot. Cap tenderly holds his beauty close- shield draped over her shoulder. But something is wrong! The Falcon is clearly too little to late. And Cap's posture is not a defensive one..which means he 1) is unaware of the killer's presence 2) is resigned to their fate?? No way!!! You want to scream at the cover, " Look out Captain America!"

Before me I behold a dream that many of us mere mortals shall never realize. And that would be an actual Jack 'King" Kirby Captain America cover! And what a cover this is. Only Kirby could combine so many elements of a story, onto one single cover, telling so much of a tale that eagerly awaits the reader within. This is truly a grail piece, Michael. "Congratulations" and thanks for sharing.

It's hard to add anything substantial to those interesting comments which I enjoyed. I'm always a bit amused about comments like 'Wow!' or "Great!", well-meant and appreciated, but, in fact, not very helpful. We shouldn't analyze art to death, but it doesn't hurt to think about the artist's intentions, the composition, etc., revealing a second level not obvious at first sight.

One big problem with this piece--it's not in my collection! Such a well-designed scene by the King...

The cover design for this issue is exemplary. Kirby's art is near its best for this cover. His genius and talent will Allard be appreciated. The image in the scope and the Falcon flying in for the rescue all as to make this cover.
