DescriptionIn San Diego 2012 me and Bill started to discuss what to do if we should "dress up " Sabrina Spellman as another character from the realm of popular culture and we decided that she would be the perfect guest host if Elvira wanted to take the evening off: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=948791&GSub=137083Then Bill expressed a wish to expand on the idea, and what if Elvira yearned to celebrate Halloween on her own and let Sabrina substitute? This is probably what the studio setting would look like: Sabrina in Elvira's gown stretched out on her red velvet settee, and Salem beside her on a big bag, filled with trick or treat-candy. She's surrounded by jack-o-lanterns and the only lighting comes from candles-a-plenty. A really beatiful piece by Bill! The additional images shows how it evolved from our early discussions (Salem's candy was added along with a literary pun) to the finished drawing. Social/Sharing |
