DescriptionSilver Surfer fans can appreciate Marvel’s Greatest #35 as the first reprinting of Fantastic Four #48– the landmark story with the origin and 1st app of the Silver Surfer, the Watcher and Galactus! Not many stories in the Marvel Universe bigger or more important than that! While Silver Surfer doesn’t appear on Kirby’s FF 48 cover, this one by John Buscema / Joe Sinnott has a prominent Silver Surfer soaring on his board, the Watcher and the entire Fantastic Four team. As much as I love the cover to FF #48, having the Surfer on this one makes it so much better. Amazing image, and what a wonderful addition to your collection!!

Wow! Congrats on scoring such a monumental FF/Surfer cover Dino!
(I know the real reason you wanted it was for the peeking bricks near the Surfer's board ;)

Just perfect with the entire FF team and the Surfer, even if this was not such an historic piece.
The spectators from the building windows are a fun element.

Just got up and turned on my computer. Haven't even had my coffee yet. But I saw this and immediately was wide awake. Not even sure I have the words to sufficiently praise this. For me, pherhaps the ultimate one-and-done piece. And when I say DONE, I mean I could happily be done collecting with this Bronze Age gem. This is the kind of piece that makes a collection like mine look silly. Like I've been wasting my time for the last 40 years. Wow!

They certainly made up for the boring cover on FF #48, didn't they? Fabulous piece, Dino!

Jaw-dropping cover. There was an energy to Marvel covers in the 1970s that I don't think has been matched in any subsequent era.

Not much to say that hasn't been said already, except that I personally love these Marvel reprint covers (Marvel Tales, Marvel Triple Action, etc)--it's always fun to see how other artists put their spin on and reinterpret classic Marvel stories. Huge congrats!

I've never seen this book or image, so naturally I can't stop staring. I also don't believe that I've ever seen the Watcher so ripped. Dino, you've really outdone yourself. Congrats!

JB/JS drawing FF and the Surfer in 1972?!?!?! This is just a feast for the eyes - thanks for sharing. I love how these bronze covers framed the scene - so cool. Congrats Dino!

The Watcher may look like he doesn't approve, but I certainly do! FF 48 is a personal favorite, and I love this cover with the Surfer in all his glory for the reprint. Stunning work by Buscema and Sinnott. Cosmic-sized congrats!

All the heroes are so beautifully drawn, but I also love the architecture in the background. Then I can't help but stare at all the people in the buildings. Thank you so much for the nice, big scan. It allows us to see all the details, and this one really has so much goodness. Huge congrats!

A-MA-ZING Cover! A huge acquisition. Surfer, plus all 4 FF members equally positioned plus the Watcher. Just great stuff! So cool that Marvel commissioned new covers to these reprinted stories. Congrats!

20 cent Marvel cover alert!!! My favorite period for Marvel covers + Buscema + The Silver Surfer + The Fantastic Four + The Watcher. This almost too much to bear! I think I'm going to swoon...
