Karate Kid vs. Devil Dinosaur by Scott Godlewski and Simon Gough

I first saw Scott Godlewski's art when I bought Dracula: The Company of Monsters, which I loved. Later he co-created one of my favorite Image series, Copperhead, and now he draws lots of books at DC. I've been wanting a commission from Scott for years, and finally got one when he agreed to contribute to my "Karate Kid vs." collection. I sent Scott a list of opponents to choose from for this commission and I'm so glad that he went with the craziest choice: Devil Dinosaur! I really dig this piece, and really dig how Scott used the perspective to have each character take up about half of the page, despite their vast difference in size. Devil Dinosaur looks absolutely ferocious here and I love the jungle background. I also have to point how how Karate Kid and the rock he's standing on are coming in from outside the frame that Devil and Moon Boy are in. Later on, I sent this piece over to Simon Gough to have it colored up and man oh man did he do some amazing work! The colors on Karate Kid and Devil Dinosaur are great (love that lighting), and I am in love with how Simon colored the jungle! I love this commission and plan on getting more from Scott and Simon in the future!

As you can see by Karate Kid's stance here, he is in no way intimidated by having to fight a dinosaur or a Moon-Boy. Karate Kid's Legion Flight Ring will enable him to perform a flying kick right into Devil Dinosaur's nose, and I'm just gonna assume that will be the end of the fight. Because that supposedly works against most animals if they attack you, according to nature shows which I'm sure Karate Kid watches. :)

If you like this piece then go buy some books featuring Scott's art in physical or digital format and/or go commission him yourself.
