DescriptionA lot of overtime went into obtaining this magnificent piece, and I don't begrudge a stressed out, insomnia-ridden, headache inducing moment of it. I mean just look at it, it's gorgeous, and pretty much the definition of a 'grail piece'José Luis García-López, along with Dick Giordano on ultra smooth inks, crafted the DC Style Guide in the early 1980's (This piece is dated 1982). This was the "bible" by which all DC Comics licensee's operated, it was the THE final say in how a character looked and legends abound at artists pitching for DC with the sole purpose of getting hold of a copy (I don't know if that's true, but who could blame them). DC couldn't have made a better choice, as Mr García-López is a superlative draughtsman as well as brilliantly conveying character. Here we have what I think it is safe to say is THE definitive image of Dick Grayson as Robin the Teen Wonder in a glorious three image turnaround, highlighting every aspect of the costume, the physique, and at the same time embodying his personality too. He's confident (but not arrogant), handsome (but not vain) and smiling. As one person said upon looking at a copy of the image, he's LOVING this, he's practically posing for the artist like it was a fashion shoot. Further words seem redundant, except to thank Will Gabri-El for his professional services. If you want me, I'll be admiring this for a while, and suggest you do too! Enjoy! Social/Sharing |

Sir, I bow before you! Absolutely a GRAIL piece and worth all your toils and more besides. There is a quality that JLGL and DG put into these that transcends the standard fare of the day. These style guides exemplify the grace and power these characters portrayed in what I consider their glory days.

Not sure why, but I've always been drawn to the sidekicks. Robin & Bucky Barnes were my favorites. This rendering of Robin is superb--congrats Icon!
