DescriptionMany years ago, I found myself in the interesting postion of having acquired a piece that art that Albert really wanted for his collection. He called me and asked, "So what do you want for it, Jim?". I said, "No, it's not for sale".. He said, "Jim. I wasn't talking about money, I mean what do you want for it?" Boy, do I like trading!Social/Sharing |

This is great! But, we all need to know--what did you trade for it?!

I've always regretted not bidding higher on this one, and always wondered where it was. Congrats!

Hey Rob, "fair question!" It was a multi-piece trade before it was done, but the key I gave up was a twice-up TTA Everett Subby splash. That was hard to do, as i'm a very big Everett Subby fan, and I've never really replaced it. Dan, I also wish I'd bid higher when it went at Christy's or Sotheby's (whichever). Then I 'd still have that splash!!

I am a huge Everett Subby fan but this is a sweet piece of damsel in distress! When trades work well they are a great part of the hobby.

I see that you are now breaking out the good stuff. Which is somewhat fallacious because it's not like you've been posting chum for the past few months. This is an incredible piece, your collection is beyond exquisite.

Superb trade, Jim! Fiction House had some of the best covers and this is simply gorgeous - a prime example! Trading is the way to go;) Huge congrats!

Astarita is a very underrated artist of the golden age and this is an example of how much skill and grace he had -
