DescriptionHappy Presidents Day!
Don’t really have the time to do a proper write up (maybe I’ll amend this description at a later date), so this will have to be an instance where I let the artwork do most of the talking. This gorgeous painting comes from the spectacularly talented Jonathan Wayshak. Since Jon is a pal, I check in with him pretty regularly and always make it a point to see if he has any art for sale. It just so happened that the last time I did, he had these High Society editorial illustrations that he had done about 10-15 years ago. I picked this one up for the obvious reasons, but also because I’m a sucker for the color green. And again, it’s a fantastic example of Jon’s amazing artistic skills. It’s done in acrylic, inks, watercolor, and colored pencil on 19 x 22, 300lb watercolor paper. Those of you who saw Jon at OAX, or even better, those lucky enough to get on his OAX commission list, know just how good of an artist he is. I am so proud to have so many fine examples of his work, and even prouder to call him a friend. Enjoy the piece, enjoy your holiday, and as always, thanks for stopping by. Social/Sharing |

Uncle Sam may want me, but I'm not going anywhere near that guy!

Wayshak got my vote for who to do a pre-OAX commission with, and I was floored with the results. You know this, you were early on his talent - thanks for the nudge to get a piece. This is a killer example of his style and quality work. Congrats - thanks for sharing!

Thanks bud. It's fun to get in on the ground floor with exciting young talent. I also did it with Mignola decades ago. And I always try to help out my fellow collectors by singing their praises. But sometimes it's like shouting at the rain, no one listens. Of course that just works to my benefit, since I have less competition early on. Although it's nice to see that the hobby is starting to catch on with Jonathan. It still makes me chuckle when I he told me the story of how a prominent art rep refused to take him on. Don't know what that guy was thinking.

Awesome piece, Eric. Really feel like Jon won OAX and that the future is wide open.

Couldn't agree more. He's crazy talented, he's hard working, and as nice a guy as you could meet. Thanks for the coment buddy. Hope 2024 is treating you well so far.

Awesome! He's definitely high on my want list to get some stuff from. Got introduced to him by Allen Spiegel at SDCC last year, and ended up talking for quite a while. Super cool guy and fantastic artist. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Will. Allen was such a patron of the arts. He loved the hobby and he loved people. SDCC will never be the same without him. Best of luck landing your own Wayshak piece. Whatever it is, I'm sure you're going to love it.
