DescriptionI just picked up the lead plate to the Illustrations Arcanum book from 1993. Although most of the book has a horror theme, the lead plate seems to me as Frank's warm up for the series. His love of big cats is evident, and this piece exudes pure Frazetta energy. It's huge too, over 20" across. This piece has an organic, loosely energetic feel that the other, studied illustrations lack. I understand Frank loved this piece and was very proud of it. Frazetta expert Doc Dave said, "...He said it came out in one smooth flow of energy. No hesitations."Social/Sharing |

I love Frank's pencils. For me it's a totally different experience from his oil masterpieces. With those, you want to step back and take it all in. With the pencils, you just really want to get in there and study all the lines and shading up close. Either way, with Frank, it's always worth the price of admission. Congrats!

Stupendous drawing! The quality of this piece measures up to the masterpieces from Frazetta's classic 50s-70s work, IMHO. Can't get over the size of it
