DescriptionAs the old saying goes, it's like buses: you wait a really, really long time for one, and suddenly a few come along all at once. And so it is for me this year with really nice Spidey-swinging-with-his-web splashes. I got a really nice Bagley splash recently from Nick for a really reasonable price. This particular one (albeit, strictly speaking, just a semi-splash) cost more but it was very tempting. I also have no Ghost Rider artwork; neither do I have any artwork with the Hobgoblin on it. I had one Mark Texeira piece (an Avengers pin-up, which I have also uploaded in my CAF Gallery), but it seems to me that Texeira original comic art with Spider-Man on it is not to be found in great abundance (although I might be wrong on this). All in all, though, a very nice piece and I am very glad to be its present steward. Postscript: I just remembered that I do have a Texeira Spidey piece in my CAF Gallery but it was for a Hero Initiative Cover project rather than a full-blown piece of original artwork. It's the age of gimmick covers and crossovers with Spidey, Punisher, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider! This one has Spidey teaming up with Ghost Rider. Spidey is always the square who prevents the other guys from killing. A Mc-Influenced Tex Spider-Man with the webbing, feet, eyes, etc. in this full dominating image.

Many thanks, Marcus! It was indeed the device that Marvel used with great effect during that period. The one (unrelated) question that constantly cropped up in my mind was this: is there no piece of artwork that you do not comment on? Everyone of course benefits so very much from your insightful comments, so kudos to you once again!

Always loved Tex's bold and gritty style, it's just perfect for badass characters and villains of any sort. Congrats on this spectacular action page!

This is fantastic! Tex hasn't spared a drop of ink in bringing his vision forward and executing dynamic movement. Very wise choice!

Many thanks, Mikail! I never thought that I would purchase a Ghost Rider page as I never really followed that series (notwithstanding its popularity), but this image of Spidey was really very, very nice.

Many thanks, Tyler! As mentioned, this is also my first page with the Ghost Rider and the Hobgoblin, so this is a real bonus for me.

That's a really great example.
Many thanks, Ron! It has shades of McFarlane but is still distinctively Tex.

The leaping Spidey image is great, but especially love the last panel. So Cool!

Many thanks, Duke! Yes, the last panel is cool. As mentioned, I never followed the (modern) Ghost Rider series but the depictions of him here (especially the last panel) really contributes to the entire page.

Many thanks, Nick. As mentioned, this adds to the wonderful Bagley Spider-Man you so generously and graciously sold to me. I am most grateful.

I'm absolutely glad that the Spider-Man splash went into your collection. And this is a perfect complement.

Many thanks once again, Nick. I am not superstitious but your generosity may have sparked a virtuous cycle as I may have yet another web-swinging-Spidey splash in my hands soon. And with none before your help!

Well, well, well. I must say that I'm very surprised at where this particular piece landed. Although at this point, I suppose I really shouldn't be, given how wide your interest in the different eras of comic book illustration has gotten over the years. A fabulous example of both artist and characters!

Many thanks, Rubén! As you've perceptively pointed out, I am open to all genres of comic book artwork. And this is a really striking piece of artwork.

What a cool Bronze Age page with Spider-Man fighting Ghost Rider to protect Hobgoblin...(HUH???). Anyway, it's just a great page from Mark Texeria! Serious congrats.

The best shot of Spidey in the whole book. Even better than the one on the cover for this issue. If you love Tex and you love Spidey (which I do) you couldn't ask for a better page. Wow!

I think the MacFarlanesque Spidey is why you bought this. 3 A listers on this page is an added plus, great stuff on this page. Nice pickup. Time for some spagehtti!
