Description

Popeye is one of the most famous comic book/strip character. When I was a kid, I used to watch Popeye cartoons and read Popeye comic books (I guess it was licensed work, written and drawn by italian artists), but only many years later I found out Segar's and Sagendorf's work. What I read as a kid was surely childish, something that cannot be appreciated by grown-ups. Segar's and Sagendorf's work is much different. It can appeal both the young and the adult, just like Gottfredson's Mickey Mouse or Barks' Donald Duck/Uncle Scrooge comics. Their Popeye is a true gem.
I'm so happy now to have a Sagendorf page (with Popeye and Wimpy and... Swee'Pea even if we're not able to see him) in my collection.

Beautiful page of an iconic character! It's so nice to find again the surreal plots and the shaky speech of the good old Popeye, the sailor man!

Yeah... that's what I love the most in Segar/Sagendorf's Popeye, funny dialogues and weird plots where you never know what to expect
