Description

This is page 2 of Aquaman (whatever series was running in 1996) #16 featuring Dolphin, a character created by comic and pin-up artist Jay Scott Pike. I have a Dolphin by her creator elsewhere in my gallery. The first panel reminds me of Bernie Wrightson.

Dolphin was a human who fell overboard and was transformed into an aquatic human. She was Aquaman's main squeeze while Mera was thought to be lost. She later married Aqualad and had a child by him. (Thanks to James Meeley who corrected my misimpression that Aqualad was Aquaman's son.) She later gets killed. I just knew that when I started my research on the character. Predicting female comic book character's death, crippling, and other nastiness is like predicting that Youtube will get more cat videos. It's a sucker's bet. Of course, the only person who stays dead in the comics is Uncle Ben.
