Description

In 1969/70, Jones did four covers for the Centaur Press "Time-Lost" series. Two of them were reprints of paintings originally done for the Donald Grant edition of Red Shadows, while the other two were original. While preparing one of the paintings (for The Pathless Trail), Jeff created a first painting, but concluded that the look of the natives was not quite in keeping with those in the book, and so repainted it. This painting was the first version, and was originally published in black and white (unfortunately) as the cover to the fanzine Infinity 3 (volume 2) in 1971 (although painted in 1969).

Oil on masonite, 7.5" x 15".
