Over at the Brian Stelfreeze Yahoo Group we got this little project. It involved doing a type of mermaid on coloured paper. Robert gave me the Sci-Fi mermaid, based on the Mass Effect games. Since I love that series (at least the first 2 games) and am a pretty avid gamer, this was super fun for me.

So I added the Widow sniper rifle (she's an Infiltrator class) and gave her 'hover belts' that allow her to 'swim' in air but also keep her flexible. Her gills are on her back (think, sting ray only on the back) and are fed oxygen though tubes and attachments the back of her armor. The tanks are small and light (like the life indicators in Dead Space) which allows for movability. I didn't want her too super sexy, I wanted a nice mix of the feminine and the practical.

I really had a lot of fun with this. Realized I need to pick up two more shades of marker as well. The scan picks up the textures quite a lot more than they are on the piece, but that's scanners for you =)

Just over 9 x 13, marker and colour pencil on toned paper.
