Description

I first discovered Tom Sutton with his wonderfully dramatic and creepy work on Werewolf By Night #9, a comic I owned as a young child. I bought the comic expecting art by Mike Ploog, but Sutton was surprisingly good... an artist capable of creating an atmosphere of genuine horror in his moody artwork. Tom Sutton had a cool run on Dr. Strange. It's a series that many great artists seemed to gravitate to over the years, presumably for the opportunities to stretch out artistically, and carry the baton handed forward from Ditko to Everett to Severin to Adkins to Colan, etc.

I've always liked this page for the Lovecraftian horror elements that Sutton rendered so effectively. I'm grateful to give it a good home!

PS: Tired of your Sutton Werewolf By Night pages? I want 'em!

That top panel is amazing! Tom Sutton did some great work on Dr. Strange (and WWBN). Thanks for sharing this!

I own a page from the very same issue and can attest that Tom Sutton never looked better than when inked by himself. These pages are pure magic. Congrats Sean.
